Kelly McCleods first case is a child custody battle for the twelve-year-old adopted daughter of Anne and Randall Madison. In spite of her constant attempts to remain impartial, she feels an undeniable attraction to Randall. Then she starts to suspect that Tessa is actually her own child, and the decision to recuse herself or keep her own counsel may make this first case her last.
