Description for DARK SACRED NIGHT by Michael Connelly:

Renée Ballard is working the night beat again, and returns to Hollywood Station in the early hours only to find a stranger rifling through old file cabinets. The intruder is retired detective Harry Bosch, working a cold case that has gotten under his skin. Ballard kicks him out, but then checks into the case herself and it brings a deep tug of empathy and anger.

Bosch is investigating the death of fifteen-year-old Daisy Clayton, a runaway on the streets of Hollywood who was brutally murdered and her body left in a dumpster like so much trash. Now, Ballard joins forces with Bosch to find out what happened to Daisy and finally bring her killer to justice.

This is #1 in A Ballard and Bosch Novel.

Connie's Review

When I read the first Renee' Ballard book, I didn't care for her as much as I did in this book. She seemed to be more human and even though she was just as focused, she seemed to be a police officer that really liked doing her job. I liked how this book had the cold case as the focus, but Renee' still worked her job and solved other issues while she was filling in the spaces on the other one.

When the true killer of Daisy was revealed, I wasn't surprised, because I thought about that person when I read a little bit about him, but quickly put that aside. Sometimes it doesn't matter who the bad guy is, it is the process of getting to the conclusion.

The Connelly' books remind me a little of Dragnet. Just the facts! I loved this book and am giving it 5 out of 5 stars.
