Eye For An Eye

Description for EYE FOR AN EYE by Joseph Telushkin:

THERE’S A BLOODRED LINE BETWEEN JUSTICE AND REVENGE.

Sometimes what’s illegal isn’t necessarily immoral.  A beautiful young law student named Donna Braun is strangled by her estranged boyfriend, a prominent celebrity photographer.  But thanks to his lawyer’s slashing defense, aimed at the unlucky victim’s reputation, her slayer gets off with a light sentence.

Then the young woman’s father, cardiologist Gerald Braun, takes the law---and a loaded gun---into his own hands, with explosive consequences.

When Rabbi Daniel Winter rises to Braun’s defense, he finds himself at war with his fellow clerics, his congregations, and even his wife.  But the rabbi’[s advocacy of the ancient principle of an “eye for an eye” seems to give rise to a third, even more shocking act of violence.  With hardly a clue, Winter must uncover an unlikely killer…or watch as an innocent man is wrongfully condemned and one bloody death begets another.
