Fly By Night

Description for FLY BY NIGHT by Carol McD. Wallace:

THE ROMANCE, THE FOOD---THE DANGER

Louise Gerard loves her job with Winfield College’s junior-year-abroad program---ideal work for the unambitious person who wants to live in Paris, indulging in meaningful things like shoes and food.

But her idyll is fading.  Her ex-lover, Volker, a charismatic poetry-spouting American -hating radical, is harassing her.  Her father is arrested for possessing stolen artifacts and cocaine.  A friend is run down by her motor scooter.  Her boss is a smuggler.  Then there’s Edward, the American lawyer, who wants something more than her warm embrace.

Now she’s fleeing the streets of Paris, running for her life, discovering that being an American in Paris---in the spring, even---has definitely lost its glamour.
