CALIFORNIA DYING

The Hollywood sky was velvet black, the girl was golden blonde, and the corpse was blood red.  The dead man had been the star of TV's hottest daytime soap.  Now he was a statistic.  The cops called it a hit-and-run.  The blonde called it homicide.  She turned her baby blues toward private eye Ace Carpenter and crossed her legs under a skirt with a slit that went all the way to Honolulu.  Carpenter liked the view, and the big bucks she offered him looked even better....
