This is a story to which 100,000 men, women and children have borne witness, by successfully making their escape over the world's highest mountains, the Himalayas. Thousands died in the attempt. A mountain people, they came into a tropical climate with diseases to which they had not immunity. They came, destitute, hungry, having lost country, home, relatives and livelihood, speaking a language few understood. Their belief that their story would be heard was not to be.
With an unshakable faith they have pursued an apparently hopeless cause with seemingly unrealistic methods: using non-violence and moderation to present their case.
Events in Tibet and outside have proved them right.
