Every morning the sun rises over the Nile lifting the fog and painting the waters a bright coral pink. Egypt is beautiful, an ancient culture steeped in history, and Layla and Mohamed feel blessed to be serving there. Layla is ministering to the sick, while Mohamed helps new believers become established in their faith.

It’s rewarding work, but it must be done in secret. According to Sharia law, converting from Islam to Christianity is punishable by death. When the body of a new convert is found—martyred for refusing to deny Christ—Mohamed vows to bring the guilty to justice. He knows who’s responsible, but it’s the word of a Muslim against a Christian, and Christians are always viewed as liars.

But it turns out he’s the one accused of murder. His fingerprints are on the murder weapon, and the police have two eyewitnesses. Aside from a miracle, he’s sure to be convicted. Fearing for his life, Mohamed takes Layla and goes on the run, quickly learning what Christ meant when He said, “No man builds a building without first counting the cost.”
