It is at a fantastic villa high in the casbah of tangier that Steve Harvester, experienced feature writer and very special agent, first hears of Operation Dancing Dog. The rumor comes from the fat Belgian, DeBas, probably a triple agent, who offers to share his knowledge---"disinformation" that sounds fine but cannot be checked---in return for a private favor. The villa holds a rich hostess, a variety of foreign agents and a group of hippies, and out of the combination the first murder comes so quickly it underlines the possible importance of the Operation.
When the house party moves, by yacht, to Marbella, it is augmented by Steve's true love, beautiful Lita from South America, Prince Otto, one of the pretenders to the Rumanian throne with his entourage and his fascinating and practical girl friend, Yuri. Smuggling is intimated, which, it becomes apparent, is more than ordinary smuggling. Steve's instinct, derived from long experience, tells him that Dancing Dog is of vital national importance.
Moving quickly around the Mediterranean to Paris and to New York, this is a fast-moving, somewhat cynical, colorful tale of international suspense and intrigue. Steve Harvester is an efficient and most likable agent, and his operations make for very good reading in the hands of this expert author who knows countries and people and how to tell an absorbing story of violence, love and treachery.
