Nimbulan had hoped he would shortly be able to abandon his role as adviser to the king and Senior Magician and be reunited with Myri once again. But there were far too many enemies ready to bring both king and kingdom down, and, with the sudden desertion of the dragon nimbus, far too little magic to draw upon as well.

Yet when the dragons suddenly contacted Nimbulan, warning him of Myri's kidnapping and demanding he rescue her from the terrible danger she faced, even loyalty to his king could not keep the Battlemage from his quest.
