Description for THREE COMPLETE MYSTERIES: GREENWICH KILLING TIME / A CASE OF LONE STAR / WHEN THE CAT'S AWAY by Kinky Friedman:

GREENWICH KILLING TIME

America's most outrageous singer-songwriter turns gumshoe detective in this wild, witty and wisecracking debut novel. It's a hardboiled journey into the dark heart of the city - as hilarious and entertaining as Kinky himself. The place is New York City's Greenwich Village. The corpse is found holding eleven pink roses. The suspects are as strange as the crime. And the detective just happens to be a country singer named Kinky Friedman.

A CASE OF LONE STAR

The legendary Lone Star Café. A raucous little corner of Texas right in the heart of Manhattan, where every great country music star stops for a gig. At one time or another, everyone from the Rolling Stones to the Blues Brothers has jammed there.

But this night, Thanksgiving, is a different kind of jam. Larry Barkin of the headlining Barkin Brothers is found dead in his dressing room, his head bashed in with his own guitar and a two-dollar bill stuffed in his shirt pocket. It's Kinky they call for help, but the fast-talking, cigar-smoking, cat-loving sleuth is disinclined to ruffle his tranquility.

Then the manager of the Lone Star arrives at 199B Vandam with a strange piece of mail addressed to Barkin … the lyrics ‘Hey, Good Lookin'' … and Kinky is intrigued. As the Lone Star performers are murdered by a killer who leaves clues from the songs of Hank Williams, Kinky finds it impossible to stay out of the spotlight.

WHEN THE CAT'S AWAY

He's prowled the back streets of Greenwich Village. Stalked behind the scenes in Manhattan's hippest hot spots. Now New York City's one and only country singer-turned-sleuth takes on a catastrophic crime that's wild, witty - and essential Kindy!

A purloined feline from Madison Square Garden's cat show is the tip-off to a trail of murders, drug rings, and gang wars that only Kinky Friedman could follow, with plenty of off-the-cuff wisecracks in tow. But there's more than one way to skin a cat, and Kinky may soon be wishing for nine lives....
