Later, Roberto became one of the greatest hitters in the history of the game with 3,000 career hits and three National League Batting Championships.

Here is the story of one of baseball's all-time greats.  Though his life was cut short by a tragic accident, he will always be remembered as an outstanding athlete and humanitarian, and the first Latin-American player to be voted to the Hall of Fame.
